I am sad to say that I have sold my Subaru WRX as of last Saturday. The car had been to hell and back with me and I can’t thank it enough for the last 7 years. In the time that I owned the Subie it brought smiles and looks of fear to many peoples faces. It was a hard decision to sell the trusty steed, but it is time to move on to a new ride (hopefully with heated seats for my sore back). I figured it would be a good idea to share a few memories of the car for a proper goodbye. Read on and enjoy the ride.

Bangin’ Corners in Autocross

The Subaru turned out to be a great car for my first year of Autocross racing. The grocery-getting wagon could make many other cars look silly in the corners. I finished the Autocross season in 2nd place and burned up a ton of tires! You’re welcome for the roller coaster ride Mom!

Whippin’ Donuts

Many friends will remember how well this car handled in the snow. One of most memorable experiences was during a trip to Big Sky Montana in 2008. The Subie and I performed some high powered drifts that made a few passengers hang on for their life in the ski resort parking lot…. Also on that same trip, the WRX saved us from a near-death experience with Robb behind the wheel.

Biking/Sweating in Colorado

The Subie loved to carry as many sporting goods as possible at any given time. This time it took us to beautiful Woodland Park in Colorado for some mountain biking fun. Even though the trails beat us up, the seats were still comfy and the bikes fit just great on the back…

I left out a ton of great memories, some of which on purpose. In conclusion, I would like to thank Subaru for all the years of loyal service. I’m currently looking for my next Subaru powered “Memory Machine.”

I will miss my bike rides through our beautiful neighborhood (pictured), but like always, I’m excited for the upcoming season. Of course the season I refer to is winter, or the season of the snowboard as I like to refer to it. When everybody else around Minnesota is complaining about the future snowfalls, I feel like a kid in a candy store. As soon as the local ski resorts start making snow, I will be strapping in. I’m crossing my fingers for colder weather….

My hair has gotten to the point where it actually looks quite messy after waking up or hanging out in a stiff breeze. My long time love-affair with low maintenance haircuts (read: shaved head) has been knocking at the door in my mind lately. I’m pretty tempted to let those thoughts turn into actions as it would save me a lot of time that I currently waste in styling. If you know me you will realize that is a huge lie….

Well I have decided to open up this life-changing decision to you, my loyal readers. Please vote on my destiny in the poll below! Although some really funny options may not be available in the poll, please feel free to suggest them in the comments section. *If you are reading this on Facebook, you must go to TimDunklee.com to participate.

Another thing I never had a chance to write about was our trip to the Boundary Waters! While my brother Luke from Hawaii was in town, we decided to head to the Boundary Waters to relive our childhood. We gathered a group of 6 people and headed up into the great wilderness. The weather luckily cooperated the whole time with only a few little issues. The head wind was the major annoyance, which made it feel like you were sometimes paddling on a treadmill. We found the campsite of our dreams which is where the picture attached is from. It was a beautiful escape from reality and I think my arms are still tired…

We decided to get a nice simple beginner model that was still powerful enough to progress our photography skills with. The model of choice in the end was the Nikon D40. It was a tough call between the Nikon and the Canon Rebel XS but the Nikon just felt simpler and better in the hands. It has already been an amazing device and I’m sure you will see many picture galleries taken with the Nikon in the future. The camera should do a great job of documenting our Montana trip! I will leave you with a picture of Moose not looking too happy about the newly acquired attention grabber.

Thank you everybody for a great holiday season.

It’s extremely nice not having to drive very often from where we live. There was a span of 3 days last week when I didn’t even step foot in my car! I think the Subaru is feeling a little neglected, but it still didn’t give me any trouble when I cranked it over this morning. Conveniently there was also a Christmas tree lot right across the street from our complex! Kate and I picked up a tree and had it inside within a half hour of leaving our door. I will post more pictures of the apartment as soon as I can. Thanks to everybody that contributed in our move.

The other thing that dawned on me is that moving is a great time to clean house. I never realized how many old useless things I had laying around! Two full-size garbage bags were filled to the max with all my excess belongings. The packing stage was tough, but I now am truly ready to move into my new home.
